Robin Housemonger’s Nothing On is a fast-paced ingenious farce set in the Brents’ country residence just outside London: a confused housekeeper, a pair of intruding lovers, the Brents’ unexpected return, a senile burglar who is finally reunited with his long-lost daughter (in her undies), a trouserless Sheikh mistaken for a thieving sex maniac, and a good old-fashioned plate of sardines. Voilà, all the ingredients for a splendid evening of light-hearted entertainment!
If only the relationship problems developing among the cast were not worse than the ones written into the play. At the dress rehearsal the show is well on its way towards degenerating into utter chaos. But things do not start to really go to pieces until the actors try to settle their issues backstage... whilst performing.
